3 Top-Notch Templates Sales Prospecting Experts Trust

OK, let’s start the year off with a BANG!

This week – in my Weekly LinkedIn Newsletter – I gave away a downloadable set of templates to help my readers grow their business right now

So, I wanted to make sure the readers of this blog didn’t miss out on them.

All you have to do is follow the instructions on the downloadable PDF, and we should automagically see some new opportunities come your way before you’ve even had time to break all your New Year resolutions 😊.

* Two things you need to be aware of before you start using them. *

First off – when a technique, strategy or template become common knowledge they lose all their power.

It’s a bit like someone showing you how to do a magic trick – one moment it’s an unbelievable miracle, the next it’s just an obvious illusion.

So, you need to adapt and personalise these templates to make sure they sound like they were written by you – using the words and phrases you actually use – the industry jargon that only you and your prospects understand.

If everyone personalises them in this way, the templates will keep working – because everybody will be sending out something slightly different.

If you want even more motivation to edit them and make them your own – take a look at the last 3 emails you deleted without reading them – I bet you’ve seen something similar 100 times before – you’ve been down that street, you know what’s down there. That’s why we don’t want to give these golden goose templates an early death by making them too familiar.

Secondly – it’s not just the information in the downloadable document that will help you win the business – that’s just 20% of the process – what really counts is the implementation of your complete strategy.

I hate to break it to you, but just sending a load of these out for the next couple of weeks without any effective follow up, will not bring in any more business than you’re already getting right now.

FACT!

If you haven’t been to one of my Business Development Masterclasses yet, you probably won’t have seen my sales prospecting gameboard – but, if you haven’t, don’t worry – you’ve just got to make sure you have a process that will enable you to clearly see both the start and finish squares of your prospecting journey.

Finally, nothing mentioned here will require you to upgrade to “premium” on any of the platforms mentioned – so all you have to do is download the templates and get started.

TEMPLATE #1:

Connecting on LinkedIn with Prospects Who Don’t Know You

This first template is designed to give you a better chance of getting a positive response when you send out a LinkedIn invitation to a prospect who doesn’t know you yet.

Most lazy salespeople just find someone they want to sell something to – and then click “send invitation” – repeat a thousand times – and hope for the best. But you stand a much better chance of success if you approach the situation using something similar to the technique detailed alongside this template.

TEMPLATE #2:

When You Drive Past the Perfect Prospect Opportunity

This second template is for all those times that you come out of an appointment – and as you start to drive home – you see a business that would be a perfect fit for you to work with.

However – they don’t know you from Adam – you don’t have an appointment – and you’re not even sure who your point of contact might be.

Most people who attend my business development masterclasses are shocked when I talk about paper mail – but think about this:

You don’t have to open an email to delete it – but you do have to open an envelope and scan the letter to see whether you’re interested or not – and, either way – your brain has already logged it.

This template enables you to make an introduction, put yourself on their radar and gives you a far better chance of becoming connected on LinkedIn with your future contact within a matter of days – and you don’t even need to buy a stamp.

Template #3:

When You Need a Proof Statement to Overcome Objections

Most people know that – if you want to overcome apathy, scepticism – and most drawbacks and misunderstandings – with prospective clients, then you need to have some form of a proof statement.

A proof statement is an example of something that has happened previously which proves that you are telling the truth – and that your solution has been proven to be highly effective with other businesses similar to your prospect’s.

However, in the 21st Century, most people have forgotten how to acquire one.

Back in the In the 1990’s (before the internet existed, when I was selling photocopiers) we all used to rely on testimonials and recommendations to prove our case.

These were sent to us by happy customers on their corporate, letter headed paper (to prove it was official) and then presented in a “big book of proof” – a folder with plastic inserts that allowed us to share how wonderful we were with potential prospects.

I had hundreds of them. And the reason I had hundreds of them was….

because I asked people for them!

Now, these days, you don’t need a “big book of proof” – because you’ve got the internet 😊 – but, for some reason, people are still nervous to ask.

Well, this third template will help you frame your request for a LinkedIn recommendation without scaring off any brand-new customers or annoying your regular client base.

So, there you go.

I hope you find the downloadable templates in this weeks newsletter useful – and that the tools, ideas and resources in the download help you to exceed your sales target for this year – and that they go some way to helping you reach the heights that you wish to reach moving forward.
